"I am so very impressed with Gary's skill and professional service. I am so happy with my guitar, it feels like the day I got her 15 years ago. Plus Gary is a super rad cat. I recommend him to anyone who needs his services. Aweh brothers and sisters."

"I had a problem with the under the saddle pickup on my Yamaha nylon silent guitar. After taking it in to Gary, the guitar sounds and plays wonderfully. What a pleasure."

"I highly recommend Gary Gibb Guitar Clinic - Gary sorted out my acoustic Yamaha to perfection, some years ago when I lived in Durban and many friends of mine still make use of his excellent services."

"I still play the same Morris acoustic that I bought in the 70s thanks to Gary who brought it back to life when I thought the neck warpage and resultant unplayable action were beyond hope. Much like a skilled surgeon Gary has the ability to extend the life of much loved companions !"

~ Mike Raftery

"Gary brought my dad's 50 year old Eko guitar back to life. The gold glitter, white mother of pearl monster live again, well done Gary.I thought she was a gonner! My beloved dad may be gone but his Eko lives on, now in the care of my friend Bruce Boome. Maybe we should use it to play the Young Ones?"

~ Stuart Mey.

"I first met Gary when he was still working for Musikland in the Berea Centre. The first guitar he assisted me with was an old Washburn Mercury...It had a nasty action and came back feeling and looking so much better than I could have hoped. My second interaction with Gary was taking a broken Charvel 550M acoustic to him for what was optimistic repair work (the neck had snapped in two)...It came back rejoined and revived.Since then have had strats with 'skew' necks straightened, tele's with intonation problems corrected and custom-made guitars set-up, repaired and refined.Gary is a pleasure to deal with, is friendly, helpful and incredibly good at what he does. There is nobody better in KZN..."

Gary Gibb as a guitar technician.
"I have been collecting vintage stringed instruments for years and have a collection of about 50 instruments, guitars, banjos, mandolins and ukes.Whenever I acquire an old instrument my first stop is always with Gary who I consider to be one of the best, and certainly the most reasonable, guitar techs in S.Africa. Gary can always make a plan to get the the instrument into proper playing condition. In fact, he has brought 5 instruments of mine, which I thought were unsalvageable, back to life and which now sound and play as good as new. I personally give him a recommendation of the highest order.Don't take your instrument anywhere else."

"I was guided to Gary some years ago by my friend John Chamier at Glenwood Village Music (Long before it was called that !) I had an old Ibanez Dove that I had purchased in 1969. I now needed it be fitted with a pickup so I could play with other musicians on their sound systems.

Gary chose the very best pickup for my old guitar and got just the right sound coming through the sound systems ! This was at least 15 years ago and I am still very happy with my Dove. The Dove goes back to Gary every so often to have "things" sorted, new frets (after 40 years they need to be "dolled up" a bit) and the neck torsion rod needs readjusting from time to time.

I was so impressed with the work on the Dove that, when my Hofner 12-string turned 40 years old, I again went to Gary to have it spruced up and have a pickup fitted. That was also a number of years ago. I send all my friends to Gary and they're all impressed with the work but also Gary's very pleasant nature.

Keep up the passion Gary, it certainly shows in your work !"

"I'm a singer / guitarist  performing 3 or 4 gigs a week on my Fender Stratocaster.  With all the time spent on it I know how important it is to have the instrument serviced regularly.

When I first took my guitar to Gary I was utterly desperate as someone who claimed to be the "official Fender guitar technician" had just done a set up from hell on it which left it buzzing all over the neck and sounding terrible.  I was advised by my music shop to take it to Gary for a proper set up. I got it back from Gary in no time feeling and sounding like a brand new guitar. You can imagine my sheer delight.

Gary Gibb is the only person who I will ever let touch my beloved Strat. I take it back to him at least once a year and have always had the same exemplary service.

I welcome any enquiry to verify my reference."
